200 models in 7 years: the definitive Pharrell × Adidas buying guide

April 2026 · 8 min read

No musician has produced more co-designed sneakers with a single brand than Pharrell Williams did with Adidas between 2016 and 2023. Over 200 models across seven years, a catalogue so extensive that tracking it has become its own discipline. Now that Pharrell has moved to Louis Vuitton as men's creative director, this chapter is definitively closed. What remains on resale is increasingly scarce.

The Human Race line began with the NMD Hu in 2016, a reworked NMD with bold text across the Primeknit upper and colourways inspired by Holi festivals, N.E.R.D. albums, and Pharrell's own chromatic sensibility. The formula was deceptively simple: take a technical silhouette, apply maximal colour, add text that meant something. The results ranged from widely available retail releases to China-exclusive limited editions that trade in the thousands.

Besot Editorial

The hierarchy for NMD Hu collecting in 2026 runs roughly as follows. The Aqua (China exclusive, 2017) is the grail: prices start at $800 and climb depending on condition. The Inspiration Pack (2018) runs $180 to $250 and represents the best combination of accessibility and visual impact. The Solar Orange trades at $260 to $300. The core colourways from the original 2016 run hover at $140 to $180, genuinely reasonable for a piece this culturally significant.

The Tennis Hu and Solar Hu deserve their own moment. Where the NMD Hu leaned technical, the Tennis Hu was a cleaner, more lifestyle-oriented silhouette that translated better into everyday wear. It remains the most wearable piece in the Human Race catalogue. The Solar Hu pushed further into chunky trail-runner territory; it anticipated the chunky sneaker trend by about two years and now reads as prescient rather than dated.

Sizing across the Human Race catalogue requires attention. Primeknit construction runs snug through the midfoot. The standard advice across almost all NMD Hu models is to size up half. The Tennis Hu runs true. For women shopping the catalogue, Adidas uses a one-size difference between men's and women's: women's EU 38 equals men's EU 37.

With new releases no longer possible, the Human Race catalogue is a closed system. Prices will move in one direction over time. The question for buyers is not whether to act, it is when.

Stay besot. New collections, verified listings, and the stories behind the pieces.
